Singapore is a small country with a gorgeous city state. Did you know that Singapore is 1 of only 3 surviving city states in the world? The other two are Monaco and the Vatican City. Officially, Singapore doesn’t have a capital! Singapore city has amazing architecture and fun places to visit. Here are the Singapore highlights to visit!
Gardens by the Bay
18 Marina Gardens Dr, Singapore 018953
This is a place you must visit. Especially during the evening when the lightshow is going on. This will happen around 7:45 PM and 8:45 PM of every evening. It truly feels magical and calming with the music and lights in the trees. It is super busy, but the trees are high enough for everyone to enjoy the show. It’s so cool to have a nice walk along the parc during the show or to just sit down and watch. This is also a great place to visit during the day! Cloud forest in Gardens by the bay is a lovely indoor nature paradise. It might be my favourite of the Singapore highlights.
Marina Bay Sands
10 Bayfront Ave, Singapore 018956
You can’t miss this place when you’re walking around the city. The architecture of this building is amazing. Great to take pictures of from downtown, but even greater to visit. You have two options when you’re visiting Marina Bay Sands. You can buy tickets to the look-out point or tickets to the bar on top of the building. The prices don’t differ that much, it’s just your personal preference. The rooftop bar is a small stairs above the terrace so the view is pretty much the same. Don’t forget to enjoy the show at Gardens by the Bay at night when you’re on top of the building. This different point of view is so much fun.
Marina Bay Circuit
Marina Bay, Singapore
If you’re a Formula 1 fan like me, have a little look at the circuit. It’s just fun to see it in real life! There wasn’t anything going on when I was here, but it is cool to main part of the circuit. The Formula 1 race is a street race, so there isn’t a real circuit to see if I’m not mistaken. However, just have a look!
China Town / Little India
It’s such a joy to get out of the rush of the downtown area and visit these smaller neighbourhoods. Get lost in the small streets and enjoy the cheap Indian food places or street food. This really is the ultimate place if you’re a tourist traveling on a budget.
Also known as a big playground. This is one of the bigger islands of Singapore. You’ll find an Universal Studio’s Park, an adventure park and an indoor skydive park. Other than these fun activities, there are a few beaches as well. This is great to visit for a day with children or to just have a fun day!
Orchard Rd, Singapore
The shop lovers are going to love Orchard road. It is a shopping paradise! Along this road you will find lots of malls and shops to shop your heart out. There’s no other place in Singapore like this. This is the shopping core of Singapore. If you want to shop ‘till you drop: this is the place to be.
1 Cluny Rd, Singapore 259569
The botanic gardens have been added to the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 2015. The entrance is free and there are lots of flowers, species of plants and a rainforest to visit. Unfortunately, I didn’t visit this place and I wish I had!
30 Raffles Avenue, Singapore 039803, Singapore
The Singapore flyer is great if you want to enjoy the view over Singapore from one central point. Not from Marina Bay Sands, when you miss the actual view of Marina Bay Sands or when you’re located in the downtown area and you will miss the view of the skyline. No, Singapore flyer is where you need to be to have a great view. This sort-of (I mean it is, right?) Ferris wheel is 165 metres high.
Singapore Cable Car
109 Mount Faber Road Faber Peak, Singapore 099203, Singapore
This is a connection between Faber Peak Singapore and Sentosa island. It will take you above the forest, through a skyscraper, give you a spectacular view over the harbour and travel across the jungle over sand and sea. It gives you an amazing 360-degree aerial. And if you feel really fancy: you can have a private sky dining. I can imagine that must be an incredible experience.
You will definitely enjoy the best days in the city if you visit these Singapore highlights. Singapore has so much to offer and it’s hard to visit all the sighs in just a few days. Just pick your favourites, do some additional research and you’re good to go. Have a fun walk around the city and enjoy Singapore to the fullest.
If you have been to Singapore, please share your recommendations and Singapore highlights too! So no one will miss the great sights.
