I can easily say that Madeira is one of the most beautiful destinations I have ever visited. I knew that it’s called the flower island but I never imagined the nature being absolutely gorgeous. It’s truly a magical island and I recommend everyone to visit it. This blog post is one of my favorites: it’s the Madeira Photo Diary.
Madeira is so green, full of flowers, amazing mountains with incredible view, a lovely ocean, fun villages and Funchal is perfect for the evenings. It’s got everything you’d ask for. Natural swimming pools, two sand beaches (funny story: it’s actually sand from Morocco! So they made these fake beaches), mountains to climb for hours and you can definitely not miss any of the alcoholic drinks and food. I’d suggest to try the Poncha with rum, it’s incredibly strong but if you get the chance: try a few sips and share it with someone else if you’re not really a alcoholic drinker.

The eight-day trip flew by with all the amazing things we did. Obviously we did some relaxing at the pool which was lovely after a hectic year of college, internship and work/blogging. The weather on the island is different every day. If you want sun, go to the Funchal area. This is the most sunny side of the island. The north side is always very cloudy and a bit more chilly because of the wind. Higher up in the mountain is obviously a lot colder as well. In the forest area you’ll find horizontal rain and fog (absolutely recommend this side, it’s stunning) and the east and west side are cloudy with a bit of sun. It’s always very windy on the island so be extra careful in the sun.

I’ll talk more about the different areas of Madeira in upcoming blog posts. As well as things to do and all that fun stuff. Since this is the Madeira photo diary: here are my favorite pictures of this trip. I would go back in a heartbeat!
