Bali is the ultimate hotspot to visit. It’s been popular for years and it is still as popular! We love a few good Instagrammable places in Bali and find the best places for photography in Bali. The island is so all-round and gorgeous, it’s easy to snap a good picture. Nonetheless, here are my favorite Instagrammable places in Bali for you to snap the best pictures!

I’ve been to Bali in 2018, although it feels like yesterday. It’s crazy how time flies. I still remember how I felt and how impressed I was with the island. It was my first long-haul trip, I visited Singapore before Bali and oh my, I loved the island breeze after being in Singapore. It was the first time I visited an island outside of Europe and it was even the first trip outside of Europe that I can remember. I went to the USA when I was 6, but let’s forget about that one now. I’ve written a few blog post about Instagrammable places in Barcelona, Paris and Madeira. Check those out if you’re looking for inspiration.

Little disclaimer here, it’s obviously fine if you’re not into the whole Instagram game. These hotspots for photography in Bali are also great to just take “normal” pictures (without you in it). The views are gorgeous and the places are special, although some are very crowded. Do what you like and adjust my tips to fit your wishes! I’ve selected 6 Instagrammable places in Bali, alternating between the actual island and the Nusa islands. Another small disclaimer, all my pictures are vertical ‘cause I just started my blog at this point and had no clue what the correct image sizes are. Some of the pictures may show too many pixels. Just bear with me here, you’ll see how gorgeous the place is anyways!

The first of the Instagrammable places in Bali: Dream Beach in Uluwatu

the most instagrammable places in bali, photography guide for taking pictures in bali, where to take pictures in bali, dream beach in uluwatu

Alright. The first one on the island of Instagrammable places in Bali. It’s Dream Beach in Uluwatu, on the south side of the island. This was my second stop on my trip to Bali and it was amazing. Uluwatu truly has the best sunsets I have ever seen.

A suggestion from my side – rent a scooter and take it with you to the beach. There are hardly any taxi’s (read: none) to take after sunset. You’ll be stuck and left to walk to the five star hotel and ask if they want to call a taxi for you. Dream Beach is very pretty, it’s quite small but it’s nice because it has a bar for food and drinks. The waves here are absolutely insane. Please be careful but have fun with them. They are so much fun! You absolutely have to hold on to your bikini top tightly though. Thank me later.

Admire the beauty of the Blue Lagoon on Nusa Ceningan

the blue lagoon on nusa ceningan, crystal blue water view from the cliff, the most instagrammable places in bali, where to take pictures in bali, photography in bali

Whenever I think of the Blue Lagoon – I always have to think about the movie. Deserted island, palm trees, white beaches and crystal blue water. Now, you won’t find these white sand beaches on this side of the island and it is definitely not a deserted island. It is however absolutely gorgeous and I have never seen crystal clear water like that. You have to see it with your own eyes!

The Blue Lagoon is pretty easy to find when you rent a scooter on Nusa Lembongan. You have to cross the Yellow Bridge to the island connected to it – Nusa Ceningan. The hills in the mountains are a challenge and I’d advise you to be careful and take the turns carefully so you won’t slip and fall.

The Blue Lagoon is almost at the end of the road on your left side. It’s located on a cliff and you can sit on the each if you’d like or stay safely on the big side of the rock and take pictures that are just as gorgeous. I sat down, but it is scary because there’s nothing beneath you. If I’d go here again, I wouldn’t sit down and make a picture safely on the rocks!

Walk in the green wonderland of the Tegallalang Rice Terrace in Ubud

tegallalang rice terrace in central ubud, rice terraces in bali, the most instagrammable places in bali, photography guide, where to take the best pictures in bali, indonesia, bali swing

Another hotspot to have on your list of Instagrammable places in Bali. When you come to Bali there’s no way you are going to miss the rice terraces. There are a few on the island so just pick the one who is close to you. My favorite one is the Tegallalang terrace in Ubud and it is the most popular on the island.

However, even though it is busy at some moments, the terrace is big. Walk up the terrace and you’ll be in almost heavenly silence with all the room to make amazing pictures.

When you walk up the terrace, you’ll find people waiting for you along the way. You have to pay them since the terrace is split up into different sections. Each section is owned by a different local. This is how they make some of their money. It’s just a small fee.

Jump on the swings on Nusa Lembongan

the swings on nusa lembongan, view over the ocean with mount batur in the distance, the most instagrammable places in bali, where to take pictures in bali, photography in bali

I haven’t been to the Gili islands, so I can’t compare them to their swings. However, Nusa Lembongan has a few amazing swings to chill on, play on and take pictures on. All of the ones I saw were located in the water or were on the beach. You have to spot them sometimes, since some of them are at the end of the beach. Just rent a scooter and drive around. You’ll find them!

If you are a little hesitant to rent a scooter – I get it. I didn’t drive it my own, the girl I was travelling with drove. However, Nusa Lembongan is safe to drive around. There are no cars allowed apart from the small trucks that take the tourist from the boat to their hotel. It’s all scooters or bikes if you prefer bikes.

A lot of fun as well and even more responsible. As a Dutchie, I love bikes so I’d advise you to pick that option if you’re not comfortable with scooters. It’s slower but you will also enjoy the views a lot more.

Admire the view of Kelingking Beach on Nusa Penida

the most instagrammable places in bali, kelingking beach on nusa penida, amazing view from the top down to the beach, hotspot in bali, where to take pictures in bali

Yep. Here it is. The queen of the most Instagrammable places in Bali. It is also the most crowded one you’re going to find. There is literally a line to go down and take pictures. If this is not for you, there are other places near this spot to take pictures. It has a similar view, but is way less crowded. I decided to join the line because it was the picture I really wanted to take. If I ever visit this island again, I would definitely walk a little further and take pictures from that side.

The stairs that lead to the actual beach are horrendous. Please wear sneakers if you are going here because it’s way too dangerous with slippers on. There’s an improvised railing to hold on to, but it’s made out of rope so it doesn’t really give you any support. The steps are big and high so it’s not easy to walk down. Just look at it when you’re there and decide if you want to go down. You always have to get back up which might be even harder. It is very quiet on the beach which is nice!

I’d advise you to hire a driver to drive you around Nusa Penida. The roads aren’t as good as they are on Nusa Lembongan. Unless you are a very experienced scooter driver, I would be safe and take the car.

The last one of the Instagrammable places in Bali: The Yellow Bridge on Nusa Lembongan

the yellow bridge between nusa lembongan and nusa ceningan in bali, hotspot to take pictures, the most instagrammable places in bali, photography guide

I mentioned this one briefly in this post but the Yellow Bridge is a true eye capture. If you Google these island, you’re going to see an image of this bridge. Guaranteed. It’s a very nice bridge, pretty crowded since this is the only way to reach the other island. If you have a little patience, it’s easy to take a few fun pictures.

Another way of taking pictures on this spot, is from the water. If you decide to take the trip to Nusa Penida and you’re either staying on Nusa Lembongan or you’re transferring to Nusa Penida – you can snap a picture from the boat. It’s most likely some sort of speedboat and the dock is right next to the bridge. Perfect spot to take picture!

These were my favorite Instagrammable places in Bali. There are so many opportunities for photography in Bali. This list can be so much longer but it also depends on the route you’re taking. I didn’t visit Munduk or Lovina, definitely will next time, but these places have amazing waterfalls to take pictures and simply enjoy. I’d say – just take out your camera and make thousands of pictures! Because even though I listed these are the best Instagrammable places in Bali, there’s so much more to discover.

  1. Bali looks amazing and the Blue Lagoon looks so unreal! I’ve been wanting to go but I’ve been worried that this place was over-hyped on Instagram. But that doesn’t look like the case with your stunning pictures!

  2. This sounds so fabulous and your pics are gorgeous. I would love to visit The Blue Lagoon and I appreciate your truthful representation of it.

  3. What a great guide to finding Bali’s best instagram shots. I don’t think I’d visit all of them – some seem too much effort or a bit scary – those stairs at Kelingking Beach are not my thing at all LOL!

    1. Hahaha I can imagine! Those stairs are a TRUE challenge and it wasn’t the happiest on them either! I hope they gave you some inspiration. 🙂
