I’m a happy girl when I am organized and everything is clear in my mind. I’ve been working on it more during the last months. It’s helped me so much in being more productive and to be less stressed. These are my lifestyle habits that helped me get my life together!
I’ve written two blog posts about productivity before. To be fair, I am still not the most organized person ever. I still forget some things, forget writing things down or am just a little bit messy sometimes. That’s pretty rare nowadays, but it still happens to me sometimes. I’m sure I am not the only one who can be a bit disorganized at times. The lifestyle habits I’m going to share with you may help you in getting your life together as well.

Have a regular sleep pattern
I know this one can be SO hard. This is one of the best things I have done into changing my lifestyle habits and getting more organized. Generally, I try to have 8 hours of sleep every night. I don’t always get to the 8 hours a sleep unfortunately. It can take me two hours before I fall asleep, I still try to get to the 8 hours of sleep every night. I try to go to bed around 11 o’clock and usually wake up around 7:30-8:00 AM without my alarm. Of course, with waking up at night and all that stuff – this rounds up to be around 8 hours!

Write every little thing down
This might just be me but my short-term memory is really bad. To be honest, this is a side effect of a disease and medicine I had when I was younger. Nevertheless, I know other people who struggle with forgetting things easily as well. It truly helps to write everything down! It doesn’t matter much if it’s in an actual planner or if you write it down in your phone.
I tend to do both. I use my phone when I’m out and need to write down or schedule a meeting. However, an actual written planner is still my favorite way of keeping track of everything. All the appointments and notes I saved in my phone during the day will be transferred into my actual planner!

Time block moments in your day
I only do this when I have a lot to do and my mind goes blank. Whenever I have a dozen things to do, I get overwhelmed. I don’t know where to start, in which order to work and time blocking helps. First, I try to prioritize the things I need to do in order of importance. This can be based on the date it has to be done, if it’s study related or business related.
In addition, I am a perfectionist and time blocking helps me to stop working. I can work on one project for hours perfectionating one specific things which is a waste of my time. I’ll work on it at a later time when I have finished all my other tasks.
The best way to time block is to guess how much time you are going to work on something. You may not finish it right in that moment. It’s good to think about you WANT to work on it. I am writing my thesis at the moment and it’s taking me months to finish it. It’s not realistic for me to time block three hours to work on my thesis. I would rather work one hour at a time, have a 5-10 minute break and work another hour and repeat this during the day!

As a small additional thing connected to these lifestyle habits are podcasts. They’re not a huge thing to mention separately but I love listening to podcasts related to businesses and productivity. It doesn’t help me to get things down at the moment but it gives me different ideas of being productive! If you’re stuck in a habit that doesn’t really work for you – try listening to some podcasts!
